Lavina Grey Metal Bond Diamond Tools for Medium Concrete

Lavina medium bond metal diamonds are designed specifically for grinding medium-hard concrete with a Mohs hardness rating of 3–5. The medium bond provides an excellent balance between cutting performance and tool wear, making it ideal for contractors carrying out floor preparation, coating removal and the early stages of concrete polishing.

Available in a range of grit options, the medium bond allows you to progressively refine the concrete surface before transitioning to ceramic, copper or resin bond tooling. Selecting the correct bond for the concrete hardness helps maximise cutting efficiency, reduce glazing and achieve a more consistent scratch pattern throughout the grinding process.

The tools are available in both single segment and double segment configurations. Single segment tools provide a more aggressive cut and are generally recommended for lighter or smaller floor grinders, while double segment tools are better suited to larger and heavier machines where longer tool life and balanced grinding performance are required.

Featuring the Lavina Quick Change fitting system, these diamond tools can be installed quickly and changed with minimal downtime. If you’re using a different manufacturer’s grinder, we can also supply a range of conversion plates, allowing Lavina Quick Change tooling to be used with many other professional grinding machines.

For the best results, always match the bond to the concrete hardness and select the grit appropriate for the level of aggregate exposure and the desired finish. Where the concrete hardness is unknown, testing the floor before grinding can help ensure the correct bond is selected for optimum performance.

Tip: For the most accurate concrete hardness assessment, we recommend removing the surface laitance or top layer using a hand grinder before carrying out a Mohs hardness scratch test. Testing beneath the surface provides a more representative indication of the concrete’s true hardness and helps ensure the correct metal bond is selected.
