Product Overview
STRIP 40 | Wax & Coating Stripper is a deep-acting wax-stripping cleaner designed to remove old residues of waxes, sealers and surface treatments. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, it can be applied across a broad range of natural stone, agglomerate, concrete, terracotta and ceramic surfaces.
The product is supplied ready to use and offers excellent wetting power to support effective contact with the surface. For particularly thorough stripping, STRIP 40 can be combined with the alkaline cleaner FABER 30 2.0 in a process referred to by Faber as “Double Stripping”.
Key Benefits
- Deep-acting removal of old wax, sealer and treatment residues
- Ready-to-use formulation with no dilution required
- Suitable for both indoor and outdoor surfaces
- Excellent wetting power
- Reduced hazard compared with traditional wax strippers
- Can be used with FABER 30 2.0 for a comprehensive Double Stripping process
Suitable Surfaces
According to the manufacturer, STRIP 40 is suitable for:
- Concrete
- Marble, granite, limestone, travertine and quartzite
- Slate, sandstone, porphyry, tuff and Basaltina/lava stone
- Molten basalt
- Marble-cement, marble-resin and marble-quartz agglomerates
- Reconstituted stone
- Terracotta and cotto
- Clinker
- Glazed and craquelé ceramics
- Polished, natural and textured porcelain tiles
Coverage
Indicative coverage is approximately 10–20 m² per litre. Actual consumption will depend on the surface’s absorption level, condition and the residues being removed.
How to Use
Surface preparation
- Remove dust, debris and coarse dirt with a broom or vacuum cleaner.
- Ensure the surface is dry and is not overheated.
- Protect adjacent surfaces that are not being treated.
- Test the product on a small, inconspicuous area or unused piece of material before treating the full surface.
- Work in manageable sections. On highly absorbent surfaces such as terracotta, limit each section to approximately 4–5 m².
Standard application
- Apply STRIP 40 undiluted, covering the treatment area evenly.
- Distribute the cleaner using a single-disc machine or large brush.
- Allow it to work for approximately 10–15 minutes.
- During the dwell period, work the surface periodically with the machine or brush to assist the dissolving action.
- On absorbent materials, add more product if required to maintain a fine, continuous layer over the surface.
- Add sufficient clean water to emulsify the residue, then work the area again with the machine or brush.
- Remove the resulting liquid, preferably with a wet vacuum.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Repeat the process if necessary.
Double Stripping with FABER 30 2.0
For a more comprehensive stripping process, STRIP 40 can be followed by FABER 30 2.0. Apply STRIP 40 undiluted and allow it to work for approximately 10–15 minutes while periodically agitating the surface.
Apply FABER 30 2.0 over the same area. The manufacturer specifies undiluted application on absorbent materials such as concrete or cotto, and a 50% dilution in water on non-absorbent materials such as porcelain stoneware and ceramics. Allow a further 10–15 minutes, agitating periodically, before emulsifying with clean water, extracting the residue and rinsing thoroughly.
The brush or pad must be selected according to the surface and the treatment being removed. Green discs are normally used for wax-stripping operations within the Double Stripping process.
Application Equipment
- Single-disc machine
- White pad
- Hard floor cleaner
- Suitable large brush
- Wet vacuum for residue recovery
Drying and Return to Use
Following rinsing, the floor may be returned to use once it is dry. Before applying a new surface treatment, allow the material to dry completely throughout. The required drying period varies according to the material and its absorption level.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does STRIP 40 need to be diluted?
No. STRIP 40 is supplied ready to use and should be applied undiluted.
How long should it remain on the surface?
Allow approximately 10–15 minutes, periodically working the surface with a single-disc machine or large brush to assist the dissolving action.
Can it be used on concrete and natural stone?
Yes. The manufacturer lists concrete and numerous natural stones, including marble, granite, limestone, slate, sandstone, travertine and quartzite, among the suitable surfaces.
What is Double Stripping?
Double Stripping is Faber’s combined application process using STRIP 40 followed by the alkaline cleaner FABER 30 2.0. It is intended to provide a deep, comprehensive stripping treatment.
When can the floor be used again?
The floor can be returned to use after it has been thoroughly rinsed and is dry. If a new treatment is to be applied, the surface must first be completely dry throughout.
